Baghdogra / Kurseong
Take a direct flight to Baghdodra and transfer to Kurseong (elevation: 1,460 m / 4,865 ft). Start your trip with a visit to Makaibari Tea Estates. Head to Eagle’s Craig to get spectacular view of the Darjeeling Valley.
Kurseong / Darjeeling
Board the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a century old Toy Train that will take your through magnificent mountainous landscapes. Reach Darjeeling (2,050 m / 6,710 ft), a summer resort for the elite British Raj. It was once a small cluster of villages but became an important town when the British introduced tea plantations and trade.
Ghoom / Darjeeling
Relish the salubrious climes of the hill station and hike around the surrounding tea estates. Visit Tiger Hill, to admire the panorama on Kanchenjunga peak (8,586 m / 28,169 ft). Also make a trip to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute created by Tenzing Norgay, and the Buddhist Gompa (monastery) of Yiga Choeling in nearby Ghoom.
Darjeeling / Pelling
Head towards Sikkim, a monarchy until 1975. Sikkim is blessed with some of the most beautiful landscapes, flora and fauna, making it a paradise for adventure seekers and nature lovers. Sikkimese are divided into four main ethnic groups (Lepchas and Limbus tribals,Bhutias originating from Tibet and Nepalese). They practice both Hinduism and Buddhism. Rest in Pelling (2,150 m / 7,200 ft).
Pemayangtse / Rabdentse / Pelling
Visit Pemayangtse Gompa (Monastery) dating back to 1705. Go to Lakhang (main temple) and admire a collection of ancient idols so beautifully carved. Also, see the seven-tiered structure representing Guru Rinpoche’s Heavenly Palace, called Zandog Palri. Also visit the remains of Rabdentse Palace and Sanga Choeling Monastery and understand the Sikkimese culture.
Pelling / Yuksom
Drive to Yuksom via Darap village and Khecheopalri sacred Lake. Head towards the cardamom plantations and rice fields to Yuksom (1,780 m / 5,840 ft) and spend some leisurely time in the greens.
Founded in 1642, Yuksom was the first capital of Sikkim, before Rabdentse and Gangtok. Wander to Dubdi and Tashi Namgyal Gompas, and enjoy the scenery
Yuksom / Gangtok
Drive via the picturesque village of Tashiding to Gangtok (1,600 m / 5,200 ft), the capital of Sikkim. Wander around Do-Drul Chorten Buddhist Stupa and immerse yourself in Buddhist culture.
Rumtek / Gangtok
Take a trip to Rumtek Gompa, a part of Karma Kagyu school of Buddhism. Rumtek is a replica of Kagyurpa monastery in Tibet. It offers immense peace and tranquility. Drive back to Gangktok and enjoy an evening in the cozy streets of the city.
Gangtok / Kalimpong
While in Gangktok, visit Enchey Gompa and Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. Thereafter, head to Sikkim and return to West Bengal and spend the night in Kalimpong.
Kalimpong / Siliguri
Drive across the scenic Kalimpong Valley to Siliguri and travel to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or Baghdogra Airport to your homeward destination.
